First breakfast ride of the year and bearing in mind how cold it was we still had a great turn out. We encountered a brief spell of hailstone, headwind most of the way out and more than a shower or 2 but it'd take more than that to dampen our enthusiasm... group 1 and 2 both did the same route which was heading to Warley cross cafe. As we approached, Ruth decided she'd take a more direct route and save us all some seats while the rest of us tagged on an extra loop in the name of upping our mileage for the day. Upon approaching the cafe though we were met with a rather sombre looking Ruth who had been sat on the bench outside as unbeknown to us the cafe hadn't returned from their Christmas break and was infact closed still. No problem though as by the time everyone arrived our reliable events manager had done what she does best and already arranged an alternative venue in the form of Bert's Pizzeria only a mile or so down the road! Let's just say it was worth the detour... With breakfast in our bellys and fuelled by a coffee or 3 we headed back to HQ, only by this time the sun was shining and the wind was at our backs making the return leg almost effortless.Â
