Saturday morning breakfast club! Ride to the Wolds Village at Bainton by our on the scene reporter N

Club Ride Sat 25th March to the Wolds Village Cafe

NO WHEELS ON MY WAGON AND I,M STILL ROLLING ALONG, THEM CHEROKEES ARE AFTER ME BUT I,M SINGING MY HAPPY SONG (Now we all know what that is don’t we?) But he wasn’t singing……… twice in a week….. that’s the last I,m going to say about it, no more jokes…… till the next time TSK TSK………..

Ive got to say This was the best Saturday Club ride to date, great turnout, great weather and as ever lots and lots of material to write about, being involved in this club is like a good comedy programme the characters just get better and better……….. talking of which……… WE had two groups set off from our new HQ.

Steady Group who set off first, Big Colin Stubbs, more of him later, Jo( Rock your baby ) Hopkin, Paula ( out 7 days a week Meanwell) , Jazmin (1/2 Way House) Salvidge Jim (another one past, just leave it on the roundabout) Johnson, Stephen(cant think of one yet) Briggs, Lee ( Twids) Twydale, Steve (Got to get back Lazenby, go on ill have a coffe then) and the man with no name, the legend that still is Sat Nav. A cunning plan so they would get to the Café 1st, well that didn’t work! They had a puncture on Long Lane and were over taken by the Quicker Group Josh Jack and Andy all challenging for the Planet X KOM award,3 Steves Anderson with no Navigation, his brother Paul (Sugar Sugar) Anderson, Kevin( the main man) Beswick, Kamil Butler, Niggins, Rob Ackko who once again were steaming along.(must be his diet on rides, salmon last week, cranberries this week) Ryano Wiles.

The route took us into Beverley through the Town, the Westwood and onto Walkington, Cherry, Etton , South Dalton, Dalton Holme, a long drag to Middleton on the Wolds, every incline was a sprint effort, insisted on by Kamil Butler, for this group who were flying in great cycling conditions, a quick stop to remove layers and off we go!!!!!!! AGAIN, Next up for us because of a last minute route change was the KOM challenge for the Planet X Boys, the road from Middleton to North Dalton, they started slowly each eyeing each others moves, Josh sneaked off only to be pursued by the other two, Andy made an early move but the two Jays shadowed him, Josh then went again, Andy went with him and left Jack, it was down to these two now, Andy made his final move and won by 3 bike lengths, nice riding Guys, a fast tight peleton to the Wolds village café ensued, Don’t leave your bike in front of doors please Andy.

We waited waited and waited, where were they? Kamil had a message on his voice mail from Steve, had some problems aparrantly, well a particular person again, his message was hilarious on speaker phone just laughter, he couldn’t string a sentence together, Jo sent an encrypted text which MI5 would have struggled to understand let alone us crazy fools, Josh rang Jazmin who told us they were 2 fields away, WHAT? The normal sensible steady group had completely lost the plot, half an hour later they tipped up, no Sat Nav no Stubbsy, what was going on, clearly theyd met up with Riceys Ice Cream Man, they all seemed very happy when they arrived, chain off one bike en route, Smithys spokes gone again, Mike Meanwell just home from his night shift was despatched to do his broom duties.

The Quicker group minus me set off, had a fast ride back with no incidents other than: Ackos bike picked a stone which somehow blew a hole through his frame, Wow! Met Paul Johnson aka Wild Man Johno and Karl AKA PC Plod in Beverley,

Back to the Café, with the not so Steady group, Colin Stubbs tipped up having done the same route as the quicker group, then Mike Meanwell with Smithy.

The Broom wagen took Smithy and Jasmin home we all set off under the guidance of our Ride Captain Stubbsy who did a sterling job navigating and coaching us all back safely, great work. Fantastic return leg excellent roads very enjoyable. Thanks to all who attended.

Another great memorable day.

Great Pictures too
